Whether you are a Lead Pastor of an established church, a new Lead Pastor of a forming Launch Team, a new business owner, or personally responsible for the declarations over your life, choosing a the words or a theme to declare over your launch season is a huge part of your success.
This year we felt the Lord speak over our church that it would be a year of Supernatural Expansion (even before we sensed that this year we would launch a second location of our church). He gave us two scriptures all the way back in September 2016.
Isaiah 54 1-6 “Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby.
Fill the air with song, you who’ve never experienced childbirth!
You’re ending up with far more children
than all those childbearing women.” God says so!
“Clear lots of ground for your tents!
Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big!
Use plenty of rope,
drive the tent pegs deep.
You’re going to need lots of elbow room
for your growing family.
You’re going to take over whole nations;
you’re going to resettle abandoned cities.
Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed.
Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short.
2 Corinthians 6: 11 – 13 Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!
These have framed our year, our prayers, our planning, my own personal thinking and responses, declarations and desires. They are in my conversations with my husband, and my journal with Jesus. They are on my lips in leadership rooms, and in my heart when I am feeling hemmed in and overwhelmed.
So a month out from our launch, we feel it is necessary to take our church on the journey of ‘expansion’. We have titled our theme this month STRETCH. Making room for the more.
Even over your own life it is worth summarising each season, each 90 days or 30 days with a word than can frame your month. It helps you create the world that you want to live in by the words that you speak.
What is your word this month?
